Today we have some more progress, and a major set back

Some days I don't want to even go in the house--lovingly referred by me as "the void" because once I walk in, I seldom leave until hours later...

Carlos and I were looking for the foot guard at the bottom of the oven. he says, Kuri, i put it in here. and then THUD. the dang oven door plum came off. WTF right? at this point, i just sat on the kitchen floor and laughed out loud.

Viola! the counter top on the pantry

The corner granite piece is in. looks lovely.

another view of both the corner granite (success) and broken oven (failure)

Ah, the much awaited tub surround. looks so lovely! Everything looks a lot better with a slab of marble on top! Well, everything but the wallet.

and now, we can put the glass wall for the shower right where the angle begins and we will have a 3-4 inch ledge in the shower for shampoo and stuff. yeaey!

I don't know what to call these things that cover the gaps btwn tile and floor but Carlos was busy working away at these things and they look quite fabulous so I had to take a pic. Plus he showed me his stain covered hands and said "look, i look like a poor person." (??)

back splash behind sink--andre says take out two of the decorative tiles... my ketchi self says leave them bc they're not returnable and why not sass the whole thing up... i'll have to think about this one a bit.

back splash behind the oven. andre says make it bigger.

gap above the fridge. still looking for a fridge option as the right door slams against the counter in front of my mini sink. so many haters of the mini sink but i love it so.

a chair that i really like at west elm

curtain that i really like for possibly the dining room. its really airy.

We were supposed to move in 1/27--tomorrow...

some photos from today:

The steps to the house have been completed and dry

The back splash--we had a pencil rail in there but due to the height of some of the outlets, we got rid of it. looks like we intended to have it this way from the beginning. Steve, the tile guy and I spent an hour placing the back splashes behind the stove and sink. hopefully it will be as pretty as the picture I have in my mind.

To my doubters... this mirror, looks perfect in this spot. the color looks funny due to the flash but let me just say I got  a "Que Fantastico" from all the work men and a round of applause." yes. the subs and I are tight.
they made a bench like thing to cover some vents. I wonder how best to use the space. its a nice bright attic and changing the paint color on the stairs really made a difference. Carpet to go in on 2/3
bath out and bath back in. Carlos built out the base around the tub today (per Carib's suggestion to angle the corners and extend by about 3 inches.  This will support the marble bath surround that Nelson came to measure in the evening.

Travis, our electrician, put in the sconces today. now to get Kenny from the glass place to measure the mirror and get it framed by Keith and Kim at MKB.

still waiting for the fancy seat. but at least the potty is in!

The shower is in. I'm just trying to remember what the last black handle circle is for.

shelves in the closet that I told Seth "this is where the monsters live"

The niche. I wanted a niche for shampoo and the like. Too bad when Steven carved out the niche, he poked his knife straight through to Daniel's room. another coat of paint please...

Seth's new BIG BOY BED delivered today from PBTeen.  Thank you Carlos for signing for said bed. This was a bizarre scenario where the delivery people were **gasp** EARLY and thus I hadn't made it back from drop off. I thought 9a-11a for sure meant noon. A pleasant surprise!

My beautiful light fixture. Who knew that if I had it right justified, I wouldn't be able to change the light bulb without removing the whole unit... nice catch Travis (and silent Steve that works with Travis) we centered it and now no problem

and here, a big problem. we need 6'8" clearance in a doorway. look at the tracks for garage door...dig down? move door? the newest "issue" to have arisen.

Travis the electrician commented on how nice the counter is "dear" (he calls me dear. that's odd... right?) and was sad when I told him it was a mistake and a white one will be coming to replace it.
A preview of the trim around the master sink. We are ripping out the marble back splash to put up the tile back splash bc it looks funny to put the trim directly on it. switch also has to be moved up. more and more painting. Thanks Folios.

Pix from my phone

I went to the house today to figure out how to fit my 4 sconces above the two sinks in the master. I tried plan A and plan B.

plan A

Plan B

The ceiling and all its blue-ish glory

a bit more mellow

The tile in the laundry room.
More progress but is it enough for a 1/27 move in? today is 1/19. that's 8 days til trucks roll up.
here is what the house looks like Tuesday AM and then this morning (Thursday).

Kitchen before counter tops. (this was Tuesday)

Fiddling with the fridge (also Tuesday)

My kitchen pantry!

with wine rack--guess I've got to start working on my tolerance again...

the counter top and the faucets are in--master bathroom

Bath tub, where are you?

PHOTOS FROM TODAY THURSDAY start here:

The Bathtub has arrived and brings with it many problems. apparently it is facing the wrong way. I had wanted to face the windows.  Carib suggests looking into the bathroom--a bit too late as it is not possible to move and I'm very happy with looking out the window. but WAIT, there's more. there is not enough of a ledge on the long sides of the bathroom. Ach! we decided to just build out a bit on one side and push the other side flush against the wall.  On the happy news front, I was told I can put the GLASS wall on the ledge of the tub giving us about 4 more inches of elbow room in the shower and a ledge to put more stuff on. yeaey!! details to be confirmed later and it could all still go wrong so not going to be too excited just yet.

Now the pulls and handles are in.

The ceiling of the master re painted to be pale pale blue and white trim.

under the thick layer of dust is Daniel and Seth's bathroom sinks. faucets and pulls all installed. mirror ordered, light fixtures just need to arrive.

Bathtub, toilet, tile, completed for boys bathroom bath and now the window has to be water proofed!!

my lovely washing machines hiding in Seth's room

Hall guest bath. I'm ever so proud of this bathroom, the tile, shower head the whole thing. I think it came out so lovely and tiles were not expensive.

Hall bathroom vanity and faucet. counter top also installed.

I was trying to show that the old nub from the old railing has been sawed off.

Powder room pedestal sink has been moved over to as centered as it can be--that stud is in the way but i think its pretty much in the middle.

my lovely kitchen. its so lovely. I can't wait to get some stools and just sit there and stare at the loveliness.

Hand rails go here between house and post.

but do we want them here?

another view.

The basement sink, counter, pulls all installed. Here we are getting a medicine cabinet and a mirror. and we randomly had to make a shelf behind the toilet because of a jut out that we was concealed and benefited by getting a bit more counter space. i like it.

current mud room. still needs the ever important hooks and cubbies.

basement kitchnette--sink and counter top to come next week
